Jaro Varga's solo exhibition continues his ongoing artistic research, exploring speculative compositions of historical, social, and topographical realities. The starting point of his work is often a specific place, public space, and the elements that shape it—both physically, such as architecture, and mentally, such as public discourse. Whether working with collections of books, videotapes, plasticine, or cheese curds, he uncovers layers that can be molded and interwoven into stories connected to our collective memory.
The exhibition partially builds upon his previous project, Priadkač, Pradiar, Spriadač, realized as part of the Sculpture in the City program in Martin. There, Varga linked elements of the gallery's permanent exhibition with the life and work of Swiss art theorist William Ritter (*1867–†1955). His current immersion into the environment of Dolný Kubín has led to new discoveries, including the figure of poet, journalist, and diplomat Theo H. Florin (*1908–†1973). Through this, Varga develops imaginative analogies and poetic interpretations. The result is a dynamic, site-specific installation that offers distinctive perspectives on historical moments, contexts, and personalities."
